About Salem Baptist
For decades, Salem Baptist Church has been a beacon of hope, faith, and community in Jamaica.

Our Story
A Legacy of Faith
Salem Baptist Church was founded on June 31, 1846 by Ogatiyameso. Salem Baptist Church has a vision to create a place where people of all walks of life could encounter the living God. From humble beginnings, the church has grown into a vibrant community of believers committed to worship, discipleship, and service.
Through the decades, Salem Baptist has stood as a pillar of strength in the community—nurturing families, empowering youth, supporting the vulnerable, and proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ with boldness and love.
Today, we continue that mission with renewed passion, embracing both the rich traditions of our Baptist heritage and the fresh work of the Holy Spirit in our midst.
Our Mission
To glorify God by making disciples of Jesus Christ who worship passionately, grow spiritually, connect relationally, and serve sacrificially in our community and beyond.
Our Vision
To be a transformative church that impacts Jamaica and the world through the power of the Gospel—building a community where every person knows, loves, and follows Jesus Christ.
Our Leadership
Meet the shepherd of our flock.

What We Believe
Our faith is anchored in the timeless truths of Scripture.
The Authority of Scripture
We believe the Bible is the inspired, inerrant Word of God and the final authority for faith and practice.
Salvation by Grace
We believe salvation is a gift of God through faith in Jesus Christ, not earned by human effort.
The Trinity
We believe in one God eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Believer's Baptism
We practice baptism by immersion as an outward expression of an inward faith in Jesus Christ.
The Church Universal
We believe the Church is the body of Christ, called to worship, fellowship, and serve the world.
The Great Commission
We are called to share the Gospel, make disciples, and serve our community with the love of Christ.
